Studio8 Ltd ‘Our Life’ Oxfordshire Photography Competition 2014 Terms and Conditions

1. The subject for the Studio8 Ltd Oxfordshire Photography Competition 2014 is ‘Our Life’. The theme is open to individual interpretation and judges are looking for your photographs that capture a shot the images that show your life. Share your best photograph that captures your life in Oxfordshire. This could be a shot that represents your community, what you love about being in Oxfordshire, your travels, adventures and experiences… be as creative and imaginatve as you like withtin the brief. The top 20 finalists will be selected by the panel of judges including Studio8 Ltd, Bang and Olufsen. Other Judges may be introduced at a later stage.
2. Entries must be taken within Oxfordshire.
3. Entrants can submit one photo via facebook.com/studio8uk or www.s8.co.uk/oxfordshire-photography-competiton, in colour or black and white.
4. Images may be digitally enhanced as required. Entrants can enhance the picture to make it brighter, clearer etc, but not manipulate the content. Studio8 Ltd and the judges reserve the right to exclude any image they deem inappropriate or believe may have been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity.
5. The competition is open to anyone from any country. Employees of Studio8 Ltd, as well as their immediate families are not eligible to enter. Entrants must be 13 years or older to enter.
6. The competition is open to non professional and professional photographers.
7. Each entry should be associated with a Facebook account where possible at which you may be contacted if entering via the Facebook page. You can also enter via www.s8.co.uk
8. Entries should be uploaded to the Facebook competition gallery at facebook.com/studio8uk where possible.
9. The competition closes at midnight on 10th October 2014.
10. No entries can be made via post – all must be submitted digitally at a high resolution.
11. All entries will be judged by a panel of judges. The judges will select a shortlist of twenty photographs (17 finalists, three winners) which, in their opinion, best illustrates the theme of the competition. They will consider a range of factors including composition, technical ability, originality, interpretation of the brief.
12. The judges’ decisions will be final and no correspondence can be entered into.
13. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.
14. Prior to submission, entrants must not have offered any of their entries for sale, been paid for any publication of any of their entries or won or been a runner up in any other photographic competition with any of their entries.
15. Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit to Studio8 Ltd. By entering the competition all entrants grant to Studio8 Ltd the right to publish and exhibit their photographs on the Studio8 Ltd website, social media channels, any other associated promotional and marketing material. Entrants whose photographs are one of the finalists or selected to appear in Studio8 Ltd marketing channels including web and print pursuant to paragraph 11 above grant to Studio8 Ltd (including other publishers authorised by Studio8 Ltd) the further rights to publish and exhibit their photographs in print, on their respective websites or in any other media. Should Studio8 Ltd choose to create products from the finalist’s photos we will contact the owner of the image and discuss any commercial rights and fees at that time. While we make every effort to credit photographers, including in printed reproductions of their work, we cannot guarantee that every use of the photographs will include photographers’ names.
16. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and Studio8 Ltd reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if Studio8 Ltd has reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
17. Studio8 Ltd reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
18. If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, Studio8 Ltd reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner up or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
19. The first prize will be a A Limited Edition Beolit 12 in White and Silver and your work exhibited at the Bang and Olufsen store in Summertown, North Oxford . Second place will receive a set of BandO Form 2i headphones in your choice of colour and
your work exhibited during the awards event
. Third Place will receive a A one on one Photography Course with Studio8
plus your work exhibited during the awards event
. Each of the three winners will also receive a Studio8 Standard Session Photo Shoot voucher.
20. Prize terms and conditions.
All prizes will be awarded at an evening event on 13th November 2014. All finalists and winners will be invited to attend. The prizes are as stated. There is no cash alternative and it cannot be sold or transferred.
21. The finalist’s photographs and winners selected by the judges and/or Studio8 Ltd may appear on the Studio8 Ltd Website, in press and any further promotion. The three winners also agree by way of accepting the prize to take part in post-competition publicity.
22. These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This competition is administered by Studio8 Ltd.

By responding and entering you agree your personal data will be used Studio8 Ltd and the sponsors of this competition. You also agree that your personal data may be held on computer and may be used as described. Your data will be treated in confidence and will not be disclosed to third parties. Your data may also be disclosed where permitted by law or where you have given your consent. You may be contacted by mail, telephone, fax, email or other reasonable method with details of products or services offered by ourselves and the sponsors. Under the terms of the Act you have the right to obtain a copy of the information held about you upon payment of the appropriate fee
