Drones have brought aerial filming within the reach of far more people than ever before. Instead of hiring an aeroplane or helicopter in order to film from the air, it is now possible to hire or buy an aerial drone for a fraction of the price.

While aerial drones can be purchased for less than £1,000, there are a number of great reasons to hire a professional drone operator like Studio8 rather then attempting to shoot your own footage.

Most importantly our Drone pilot has taken an extensive course to gain a license from the Civil Aviation Authority which is legally required in order to carry out professional drone filming and photography. (See the CAA site here.)

The quality of the drone is vital for a steady and creative shoot. If you want to achieve high quality results then you will need a specially equipped drone that is capable of mounting a well built gimbal and 4k camera. Our system allows us to have one person piloting the drone and another person focussing on the image captured. This combination offers a more dynamic approach and allows us to achieve cinematic results.

As professional operators, we understand when weather conditions will make it suitable to achieve good results with our drone. High winds may cause camera shake. The light in the middle of the day can be too harsh to get good pictures. With professional advice you minimise the chance of losing a day shooting unusable footage.

There is plenty of clever work carried out in the post production of the footage also, and our team will ensure the raw footage will be colour corrected and edited to create a polished, professional video.

A chat about our past work could well throw up all kinds of ideas about how you could use drones in future to film all sorts of different things.

With all drone operators it is important to make sure that they have the necessary CAA accreditation to allow them to operate drones on a commercial basis. With us you can rest easy that we’re fully accredited, insured and will ensure you keep within the law surrounding drone operation.
